What if this election is a blessing in disguise? Why? Because people don't change when they're comfortable. If we had gotten a candidate that made us comfortable, it wouldn't have made us change, it would have us sleep. And it is time to wake up from some very deep illusions. Illusions like we can push a button every four years, get a sticker and then go home, and binge watch an episode of "Game of Thrones", and our civic duty is done. No.

-- Prince Ea

People don't change when they're comfortable. True. Maybe that's the ingredient I need.

I've studied the ugly history of race in this country to teach others. I've unflinchingly stood against bigotry and bias and racism in all their forms. And, still, I've struggled with this self-knowledge. That's why I know it isn't something you can pray away or think away or effectively corral without deliberative, purposeful action that must become second nature.

-- Isaac Bailey

I resonated with the comment indicating that "action that must become second nature" is vital to change

I realized that she had not just faked it till she made it, she had actually faked it till she became it. So she had changed. And so I want to say to you, don't fake it till you make it. Fake it till you become it. Do it enough until you actually become it and internalize.

I was so afraid of being found out the next day that I called her and said, "I'm quitting." She was like, "You are not quitting, because I took a gamble on you, and you're staying. You're going to stay, and this is what you're going to do. You are going to fake it. You're going to do every talk that you ever get asked to do. You're just going to do it and do it and do it, even if you're terrified and just paralyzed and having an out-of-body experience, until you have this moment where you say, 'Oh my gosh, I'm doing it. Like, I have become this. I am actually doing this.'" So that's what I did. Five years in grad school, a few years, you know, I'm at Northwestern, I moved to Harvard, I'm at Harvard, I'm not really thinking about it anymore, but for a long time I had been thinking, "Not supposed to be here."

Ca m'excite aussi de déboussoler mon public avec cet album.  J'aime le fait que ça va éloigner une certaine partie des gens.  C'est comme ça qu'un artiste doit être, déterminé et provocateur, plutôt que soumis.

Change is not merely necessary to life.  It is life.

Make a radical change in your lifestyle and begin to boldly do things which you may previously never have thought of doing, or been too hesitant to attempt. So many people live within unhappy circumstances and yet will not take the initiative to change their situation because they are conditioned to a life of security, conformity, and conservation, all of which may appear to give one peace of mind, but in reality nothing is more damaging to the adventurous spirit within a man than a secure future. The very basic core of a man's living spirit is his passion for adventure. The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon, for each day to have a new and different sun. If you want to get more out of life, you must lose your inclination for monotonous security and adopt a helter-skelter style of life that will at first appear to you to be crazy. But once you become accustomed to such a life you will see its full meaning and its incredible beauty.

The fastest way to change yourself is to hang out with people who are already the way you want to be.

If you can't solve a problem, it's because you are playing by the rules.
