You acted on something stronger to you than sense, stronger than safety, stronger than judgment.

-- Caroline McHugh

This, according to Caroline, is what happens when you "happen on an Absolute."

She says that Absolutes are "what Martin Luther King Junior called the content of my character, and they govern every choice I make and everything I do."
What means as much to you as Love, Individuality, and Freedom to me?

-- Caroline McHugh
Knowing your absolutes not only helps you to express yourself, it gives you the criteria by which to judge yourself.

-- Caroline McHugh
Love, Individuality, and Freedom are what I call my Absolutes, what Martin Luther King Junior called the content of my character, and they govern every choice I make and everything I do. How I parent my children. How I run my business. Where I buy my shoes. How I get dressed in the morning. They choose the movies I love and the people I befriend.

-- Caroline McHugh
My commitment to myself and those around me is to live my deepest humanity, and to use that to be a contribution, so freedom doesn't just describe what I want for myself. It describes my world view and what I deem the most basic of human rights.

I don't think we would have a woman president if we didn't have a black president first. He [Barack Obama] really said anybody can be president -- you don't have to be a white man to be president.

-- Nancy Pelosi

Reminds me of Caroline McHugh's assertion that Obama seemed to be a verb ("Yes we can"), that that is who he is
Love is what we were born with. Fear is what we learn. The spiritual journey is the unlearning of the fear and prejudices and the acceptance of love back in our hearts. Love is the essential reality and our purpose on earth. To be continually aware of it, to experience love in ourselves and others, is the meaning of life. Meaning does not lie in things. Meaning lies in us.

-- Marianne Williamson
You will only ever have two choices: love or fear. Choose love and don't ever let fear turn you against your playful heart. All that will be left of you is what was in your heart.

To demonstrate how seriously I take networking, I’m issuing myself an ultimatum: I will not return to a job before I’ve demonstrated significant progress in this area.

"There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that's your own self." - Aldous Huxley

-- Dr Philippe Rodet
I said, "The reason I can stay in here in front of you guys and feel extremely comfortable with my decision is because, man, I gave my soul to this game. There was nothing more I could give. Nothing. " And I said, "If you guys feels like that at the end of your career, you will be just as comfortable as I am. But I'm telling you it goes by fast. And if you don't give it your all, you going to regret it. You are absolutely going to regret it. And don't be that guy. Get yourself in the gym, work as hard as you possibly can" and hopefully they got message.

-- Kobe Bryant

Kobe takes to the podium after the final game in his NBA career.
I believe that when you're up against a challenge, you have to push yourself to the limit. You have to push yourself until you see what your limits are and you see what you're capable of doing and what you're capable of not doing. Sometimes, you push so hard that you break. But then, when you break, you see what you're made of yet again because you have to rebuild yourself again. But I'd never be able to forgive myself had we not made the playoffs. If I did not push as hard as I could have, I would never know how much I had left in the tank, and I would never be able to forgive myself for that.

-- Kobe Bryant
