Do you know why most self confidence building advice fail?
Because they are not based on correct psychological concepts.

I know how hard it feels when someone finds that he lacks confidence, because i have been there, and when i managed to get over my insecurities i wanted to transfer my knowledge to others so that they can become more confident.

-- M.Farouk Radwan

I was drawn to the link between lack of self-confidence and insecurities.

I've studied the ugly history of race in this country to teach others. I've unflinchingly stood against bigotry and bias and racism in all their forms. And, still, I've struggled with this self-knowledge. That's why I know it isn't something you can pray away or think away or effectively corral without deliberative, purposeful action that must become second nature.

-- Isaac Bailey

I resonated with the comment indicating that "action that must become second nature" is vital to change
En fait, il ne s'agit pas de faire de l'angelisme, donc d'éradiquer les pensées négatives parce qu'elles sont négatives mais parce qu'elles sont fausses.

I'm confident in my body. I hope to prove that it doesn't matter who you are, what size you are, how tall you are, what color you are, it just really boils down to confidence. I hope people get that message.

-- Serena Williams
No one can tell you who you are except for you. No one can tell you how beautiful you are, except for you. No one is that judge, you have to judge yourself, because at the end of the day, you always end up with yourself and not with these people. You have to really look at yourself and love yourself.

I don't think we would have a woman president if we didn't have a black president first. He [Barack Obama] really said anybody can be president -- you don't have to be a white man to be president.

-- Nancy Pelosi

Reminds me of Caroline McHugh's assertion that Obama seemed to be a verb ("Yes we can"), that that is who he is
Love is what we were born with. Fear is what we learn. The spiritual journey is the unlearning of the fear and prejudices and the acceptance of love back in our hearts. Love is the essential reality and our purpose on earth. To be continually aware of it, to experience love in ourselves and others, is the meaning of life. Meaning does not lie in things. Meaning lies in us.

-- Marianne Williamson
You will only ever have two choices: love or fear. Choose love and don't ever let fear turn you against your playful heart. All that will be left of you is what was in your heart.

Fear may be clouding your judgment. It’s hard to know before you’ve tried something whether fear or real dislike is turning you away from it. Facing fears is worth the trouble: we often fear most what would make us most happy.
