A friend of mine, who seems pretty happy in his current career, calls this "embracing your own fabulousness." He said that people who are unhappy fail to recognize and embrace how fabulous they are, so they can't express or share their fabulousness with others. I completely agree.
Creating a fulfilling career may seem to require a lot of effort, but the real challenges are emotional and spiritual, not physical and financial. The path from a no to a yes is largely an emotional journey. It runs through fields of buried desires, self-esteem issues, and unexpressed values. You will face many challenges along the way, none greater than facing your own fears.
Through this process of consciously shifting your values, you've changed from a gym rat to an entrepreneur to a philanthropist. You've lived an amazing life. But if you always maintain your original values, you'll only experience being a gym rat for your entire life. And most of your true potential would remain untapped.

The experience was more powerful than just a fun day at Comic Con -- this was about human nature. So often in our lives we put ourselves in uncomfortable positions because we think we have to. We go to law school or become accountants because our parents told us it would be good for us, not because we wanted to. We choose one job over another because it pays better, not because we are good fits. We offer a view of ourselves to the outside world based on what we think they want from us, not based on who we really are. We do the things that we hope will gain us acceptance all in search of that comfort, that feeling like we belong. But, ironically, all that twisting and turning actually makes us more uncomfortable.

Never worry about solving all your problems today. The great thing about problems is that they will still be there tomorrow.

We live in a world in which good service is a treat. That's ridiculous. Bad service, instead, should be a disappointment.

I used to hide my geekiness. I used to cover it up for fear that others would judge me. I wanted to fit in like anyone else, so I acted the way I thought would gain me most acceptance. But this weekend, at Comic Con, I learned a big lesson. The goal is not to bend or change ourselves so we fit the norm; the goal is to find the group in which we are the norm. No matter who we are, no matter what our values or beliefs, our tastes or proclivities, there is an entire culture or subculture out there just like us. I learned that, instead of expending energy to fit into the group, it's better to expend energy to find the group in which you fit.

Why is an ideal, not something watered down 'to make it easier to sell. Corn flakes are easier to sell but they don't inspire the taste buds

When people believe what you believe, it piques their interest to either learn more or buy from you without much "selling" required. If people don't believe what you believe, they will either turn away or do business with you anyway because you meet some other requirements. In other words, you won't lose those customers, but you will gain some very special, high quality ones. Start with what you believe, start with WHY, and you can instantly filter and attract the customers most likely to be loyal.

Those in pursuit of Why are inspired to do what is right. Those in pursuit of What are driven to do what is easy.

Angus C. Larcombe suggests that the film [The Shawshank Redemption] provides a great illustration of how characters can be free, even in prison, or unfree, even in freedom, based on one's outlook in life.
